The Sweeney: Series 4 50th Anniversary [Blu-ray]

“I am utterly and abjectly pissed-off with this little lot!' says Detective Inspector Jack Regan (John Thaw) in the final ever episode of The Sweeney. But you won't be - with this stunning collection of unforgettable episodes from Series 4 of the show that redefined the British police procedural forever. In the last series, Regan, aided and abetted, as usual, by Detective Sergeant George Carter (Dennis Waterman), tangles with a Glaswegian police officer trying to prevent a kidnapping; a girlfriend who has a vision of his impending death, and a boss, Haskins (Garfield Morgan), dealing with his wife's mental illness whilst hunting an informant who shot a cop. If that wasnt enough for Regan, he is also accused of corruption and threatened with jailtime! It is all going down in series 4 of The Sweeney, newly restored and remastered for the first time in the original TV aspect ratio on Blu-Ray, making every raid and every arrest look like it happened yesterday. It's the final shootout for The Sweeney, but at least there is a swag bag full of special features and bonus materials to make the last run last longer. Watch it or be banged up! Special Features: New restoration from the original 16mm A/B negatives Option to view episodes in original Mono, 5.1 Surround sound or isolated music only tracks 5 Audio commentaries featuring producer Ted Childs, director Tom Clegg, writer Tony Hoare, authors of “The Sweeney: The Official Companion” Robert Fairclough & Mike Kenwood, series restorer/grader Jonathan Wood & blu-ray producer Grant Taylor with comments by guest star Dawn Perllman Select episode introductions by guest stars James Warrior, George Sewell, Jenny Runacre, Nick Stringer, Peter Wight & Eric Morecambe’s son Gary “Money, Money, Money” – additional widescreen version The Electric Theatre Show – 1978 interviews with John Thaw, Dennis Waterman and Ted Childs This Is Your Life - excerpts with John Thaw & Dennis Waterman The Sweeney: Widening the Titles – featurette Completing The Sweeney in High Definition – featurette The Sweeney Out-Takes Sweeney 2 – film trailer with introduction by Ken Hutchison & James Warrior Series 1 – 4 Image Gallery Blu-ray Promotional Trailers PDFs of The Sweeney 1976/1977/1978 Annuals & The Sweeney 2 film promotional material Booklet
